NFC North teams haven't emerged from the pack

This week's edition of ESPN.com's power rankings feature only one NFC North team among the top 15. We're not getting much love for all of our Black and Blue marks, so I thought it might be worth culling through each team's results this season to see if we're being overlooked.

Quite frankly, I don't think so. Through the first half of the season, NFC North teams have only two victories over teams with a winning record. Minnesota defeated Carolina, 20-10, on Sept. 21, and a week later Chicago stopped Philadelphia 24-20.

There are no grand conclusions to be drawn yet from those figures. Only 15 of the NFL's 32 teams have winning records at this point, and it's too early in the season to know which teams will emerge as the league's top contenders. All it means is that through the first half of the season, the NFC North hasn't exceeded expectations.
