As you probably know by now, Detroit sold out its regular-season finale against Chicago at Ford Field. That gives the Lions four sellouts in eight home games this season, one better than last year’s total.
I’m neither a math major nor a marketing guru, but from a business perspective, I think the Lions have some sellable assets for next season’s home slate. I would imagine quarterback Matthew Stafford won over many Lions fans during his rookie season, and at least from an entertainment point, anything’s possible when he’s on the field with a healthy Calvin Johnson.
Overall this season, the Lions accounted for 20 percent of the NFL’s 20 blackouts. The league total could extend to 22 before the end of this weekend.
