The Detroit Lions' first blackout of the year is upon us. About 8,500 tickets remain for Sunday's game against the Washington Redskins at Ford Field, a total too large to see an extension of the NFL's Thursday deadline. Viewers within a 75-mile radius of Detroit won't be able to watch the game on television.
The Lions had four blackouts last season and five in 2008.
This is an odd week for a blackout, however. The Lions defeated the Redskins last season and as of Thursday are favored in all of the ESPN.com daily lines.
