History on Saints' side in opener

For those New Orleans fans who are counting down the seconds until the Sept. 9 season opener with Minnesota in the Superdome, I’ve got a statistic that should only add to your enthusiasm.

Since the NFL began opening the season with Thursday night games in 2002, the home team has won all but one time. The only home to lose was the New York Giants (to San Francisco on a last-second field goal by Jose Cortez) and that was on Sept. 5, 2002.

Since then, the home team has won this matchup seven straight times.
