Patrick Robinson inactive for Saints

This is what happens when you’re the Super Bowl champions. You don’t even have to play your first-round draft pick.

The New Orleans Saints have deactivated rookie cornerback Patrick Robinson for Monday night’s game in San Francisco. I wouldn’t view that as a knock on Robinson. I’d look at it as a testament to how deep the Saints are.

They drafted Robinson with the future in mind and didn’t plan to play him right away. They’ve got quality starters in Jabari Greer and Tracy Porter and a quality nickel back in Randall Gay. They also have Leigh Torrence activated tonight, but that’s mainly to use him on special teams.

Also inactive for the Saints tonight are safety Chris Reis, defensive end Junior Galette, linebacker Anthony Waters, running back Chris Ivory, receiver Adrian Arrington, tight end Troy Humphrey and offensive lineman Zach Strief.
