It’s four years away, but Tampa is gearing up for another Super Bowl bid.
Local officials are hoping to be invited to bid on the 2015 game in October. That shouldn’t be a problem because Tampa enters the process as something of a favorite. A bid to hold the 2014 game at Raymond James Stadium last year finished second to New York.
Tampa officials weren’t in the room when owners voted to play that game at the Meadowlands, but said they were told they finished a very close second. Previous Super Bowls in Tampa were held in 1984, 1991, 2001 and 2009.
