Hurry up and wait on labor front

You probably already have seen over on our news side that the NFL and the NFL Players Association have agreed to extend the deadline for a lockout by another seven days.

Not a big surprise because the sides already had extended this by a day. Actually, the most interesting part of Chris Mortensen’s story might be the fact that all 32 teams will be “prohibited from conducting or executing player transactions’’ during this seven-day period.

So, basically, there’s not going to be any player movement for the next week. But we’ll hear lots more labor talk. Maybe an agreement will get done and that will open the door for free agency, trades and all that good stuff.

Or maybe we’ll wait a week and hear that the deadline has been extended again. For now, NFL doesn't stand for National Football League. It's National Football Limbo.
