Falcons take hit to offensive line depth

So much for Jeremy Newberry providing quality depth for the Falcons' offensive line.

Newberry, who was signed in June, has retired. His agent said Newberry's knee gave out as he was attempting to get ready for training camp.

That leaves Atlanta without much experience behind the five starters on the offensive line. Newberry was expected to give the Falcons depth at center and guard. The Falcons also lost veteran tackle Todd Weiner to retirement last season.

Newberry's departure might prompt the Falcons to look for an experienced lineman in the preseason.
