Around the NFC South

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- As I wrap up my visit to Carolina's camp today, it's time for a quick trip through the headlines on other NFC South teams.

  • Thomas DeCoud seems to have the early edge in the battle for the starting job at strong safety. But it's still very early in camp and the Falcons are hoping rookie William Moore can make a surge.

  • With Lawyer Milloy gone, free safety Erik Coleman suddenly finds himself as the leader of a very young secondary.

  • With receiver Roddy White still holding out, second-year pro Harry Douglas continues to be a standout in camp.

  • By the time camp is over, the Falcons will have demolished 600 pounds of bacon and 4,800 pounds of chicken.

  • This one's been expected for a long time, but the Bucs made it official, announcing Lee Roy Selmon will be the first member of the team's Ring of Honor.

  • The Bucs are making it very clear that it's now or never for third-year defensive end Gaines Adams.
