Interesting development, courtesy of our friends at Pewter Report. Tampa Bay safety Tanard Jackson, who was suspended for one year last September for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy, has shown up for today’s players-only workout at IMG Academies.
JacksonThere had been some speculation Jackson would show up for Tuesday’s first day of workouts and his name and picture were included on a list of participating players that was handed out by the staff of IMG Academies. But Jackson didn’t take to the field until this morning.
Apparently, this is not a violation of Jackson’s suspension. Although he’s not allowed to have contact with the team while suspended, the NFL is still in a lockout and the normal rules don’t apply. Assuming the league’s labor situation gets resolved, Jackson would have to stay away from the team once the lockout is lifted.
He is not eligible to apply for reinstatement until late September.
