Time for a couple of off-the-field notes on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Cornerback Aqib Talib acknowledged that he met with commissioner Roger Goodell in New York on Tuesday. But Talib refused (several times) to share any details of the meeting. Talib is facing possible disciplinary action (possibly a suspension) for being involved in a March incident in Texas in which he was charged with aggravated assault. Talib has a trial scheduled for next March on those charges.
But the ball is in Goodell’s court now. There’s nothing the Bucs or Talib can do except wait for a decision. If there’s a suspension coming, they should hear something new.
Rookie linebacker Mason Foster did hear directly from the NFL. Foster said he was fined for his hit on New England receiver Chad Ochocinco in the second preseason game. Foster wouldn’t reveal the amount of the fine, but said it was a lot more than $5,000.
