The event is also known as the third preseason game for the Panthers. It’s a 7 p.m. ET kickoff in Cincinnati against the Bengals.
You know where this one stands. Basically, all Newton has to do is go out and not play like Jeff Lewis and not stop by any tattoo shops and the starting job will be his when the Panthers open the regular season at Arizona on Sept. 11. If there are problems, the Panthers may have to turn to Jimmy Clausen by default.
I’ll be back with analysis after Newton is done playing -- he’s supposed to get about three quarters of playing time.
In the meantime, use the comments section below to share your thoughts on Newton before, during and after the game.
