Panthers take another big hit at LB

Some devastating news out of Carolina. Outside linebacker Thomas Davis has torn his ACL for the third time in his career and will miss the rest of the season.

The Panthers lost middle linebacker Jon Beason for the season last week with a torn Achilles tendon. The Panthers signed both Beason and Davis to new contracts before the season, but now they’re very thin at the position. Beason's deal included a $20 million signing bonus, while Davis got $7 million to sign.

James Anderson remains the only initial starter still on the active roster. Dan Connor started in Beason’s place Sunday. The Panthers likely will turn to veteran Omar Gaither to play in Davis’ spot.
