James Varney reports that the New Orleans Saints have moved running back Chris Ivory to the active/physically unable to perform list from the reserve/physically unable to perform list that he’s been on all season.
We’ll get a better sense of what this means when coach Sean Payton addresses the media after Wednesday afternoon’s practice. But what we do know for sure at the moment is that Ivory is now allowed to practice with the team.
Once he begins practicing, the Saints have a three-week window to activate him to the regular roster or place him on injured reserve. But all signs are that Ivory is healthy now.
What we don’t know is if there is urgency to get Ivory on the field. Rookie Mark Ingram injured his heel in Sunday night’s game. The Saints have yet to indicate how serious Ingram’s injury is.
If Ingram is going to be out, Ivory could be activated quickly. Ivory led the Saints in rushing yards last season and could step nicely into Ingram’s place in a rotation with Pierre Thomas and Darren Sproles.
