The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have sold out their Dec. 17 home game with Dallas, which could mark only the second sellout at Raymond James Stadium since the end of the 2009 season.
Ironically, the Bucs are not likely to sell out this Sunday’s home game with the Houston Texans. Games that are not sold out 72 hours prior to kickoff are not allowed to be televised live in the local market due to NFL rules.
The only other home game to sell out since the 2009 season was a “Monday Night Football’’ game against Indianapolis on Oct. 3.
The Buccaneers were the only NFL team not to sell out a single home game in 2010. Aside from the Indianapolis game, this season’s home attendance has averaged around 50,000 for a stadium that holds about 65,000.
