NEW ORLEANS -- Sunday night could be the last game for wide receivers coach Curtis Johnson with the New Orleans Saints.
Johnson will be the next head coach at Tulane, Tammy Nunez reports.
Johnson has been with the Saints since 2006 and has been instrumental in the development of Marques Colston, Lance Moore and Robert Meachem. Johnson, the Saints and Tulane haven’t addressed the situation yet, but it’s possible Johnson will leave the team quickly.
There’s precedent for that. In 2008, when offensive coordinator Doug Marrone was getting hired by Syracuse, coach Sean Payton let him leave before the end of the season. Payton said he wanted to be fair to Marrone and allow him to begin recruiting immediately.
Johnson is on the field for Sunday night's game with the Detroit Lions.
