I was just looking at some stuff sent out by ESPN Stats & Information and one thing really jumped out at me.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have spent 475 minutes and 22 seconds trailing this season. That’s more than any team in the league by far. The winless Colts are No. 2, but the Bucs have trailed opponents 43 minutes longer than Indianapolis has.
This says a lot about a season gone awry for Tampa Bay. The offense has started slowly way too often and that’s caused all sorts of problems.
Once they fall behind, the Bucs have taken the balance out of their offense. When they’re trying to catch up, the Bucs tend to go away from LeGarrette Blount and the running game.
That puts lots of pressure on quarterback Josh Freeman and a passing game that hasn’t lived up to expectations.
