Now, it’s definite that player discipline in the Saints bounty program won’t be announced this week. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell confirmed no announcement is coming this week, while speaking to reporters at a pre-draft event in New York.
Goodell said the league is still doing interviews of people with knowledge of the situation, but said the investigation is in the “final stages.’’
Presumably, that means punishments (possible suspensions and fines) of players will be announced next week. As I pointed out in this previous post, that really doesn’t help the Saints as they go through the final stages of their draft preparation.
It would be a big help if the new what players will be suspended and for how long. They could use the draft to start lining up replacements.
But the NFL doesn’t seem to be very concerned with helping the Saints these days.
