Bucs' Eric LeGrand retires

We’ve got another chapter in what has been one of the brighter stories of the offseason.

Eric LeGrand announced his retirement from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday morning. LeGrand played in college at Rutgers for Tampa Bay coach Greg Schiano. LeGrand suffered a spinal injury and was partially paralyzed in 2010. He and Schiano have maintained a close relationship and the defensive tackle was signed as a symbolic gesture after this year’s draft.

The move was anticipated because the Bucs had to free up a roster spot before starting training camp. LeGrand will be placed on the reserve/retired list. LeGrand is finishing work on his college degree and has expressed interest in a career in broadcasting.

But I don’t know if this is the last we’ll hear of LeGrand and the Buccaneers. I wouldn’t be surprised, if at some point, he fills some sort of role with the organization.
