What already has been a bad season for the Carolina Panthers just got worse.
Coach Ron Rivera at first told the media on Wednesday that Pro Bowl center Ryan Kalil could miss the rest of the season with a foot injury. Moments later, Rivera and the team updated the media and said Kalil has been placed on injured reserve. Kalil has a Lisfranc injury that will require surgery.
Kalil suffered the injury in Sunday’s loss to Seattle.
Geoff Hangartner and Jeff Byers also can play center. But Hangartner missed Sunday’s game with an injury. The Panthers have a bye this week, which will give them a little time to sort out how they will handle the center position. They also could sign another center.
