Around the NFC South

Time for a morning run through the headlines from around the division:

ATLANTA FALCONS

The Falcons have finalized their preseason schedule. They’ll open the preseason Aug. 8 by hosting the Cincinnati Bengals.

CAROLINA PANTHERS

Jonathan Stewart can do more than just play running back. He’ll show off his piano-playing skills in a benefit concert Friday.

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS

Mike Triplett sampled 20 mock drafts, and eight of them have the Saints choosing LSU defensive end/outside linebacker Barkevious Mingo in the first round. Makes plenty of sense, because the Saints need to upgrade their pass rush. I also see Georgia outside linebacker Jarvis Jones as a very real possibility.

TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS

Mark Cook explores the question of whether the Bucs should trade this year’s first-round draft pick (No. 13 overall) by looking at what 13th picks from the past 10 drafts have done. Only Brian Orakpo (2009) truly has been a star.
