Matt Ryan on record pace

Here’s a little bargaining chip for Matt Ryan's agent when he gets around to discussing a contract extension with the Atlanta Falcons.

There’s a very good chance Ryan will make history in the 2013 season. In his first five seasons, Ryan has 56 wins. The record for most wins by a starting quarterback in his first six seasons is 60 by Pittsburgh’s Ben Roethlisberger, according to ESPN Stats & Information.

Barring a collapse by the Falcons, Ryan should have no problem passing Roethlisberger.

One other note worth mentioning is that Baltimore’s Joe Flacco, who came into the league at the same time has Ryan, has 54 wins in his first five seasons. Flacco got a new contract worth $120.6 million in March.

The Falcons have said they want to extend Ryan's contract this offseason. It's pretty clear he'll be looking for a deal similar to or better than Flacco's.
