Panthers LB Davis NFC Player of Month

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Linebacker Thomas Davis was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Month, the fifth player in Carolina Panthers history to earn the award.

Davis had 35 tackles in November, including a game-high 17 in a Monday night victory against New England.

He helped the Panthers (8-3) go 4-0 in the month, extending their winning streak to a franchise-record seven games heading into this week's game against Tampa Bay.

Other Panthers who have won the Defensive Player of the Month award included: linebacker Sam Mills (Nov. 1995 and 1996), end Mike Rucker (Sept. 2002 and 2003), end Julius Peppers (Nov. 2004 and 2008, Oct. 2006) and linebacker Jon Beason (Oct. 2008).

Davis, who had season-ending ACL injuries on his right knee three straight years before last season, is having arguably his best season with 109 tackles, four sacks and five quarterback pressures.
