Around the NFC South: By the numbers

Time for a little break from covering the Saints in London. With some help from ESPN's research department and Elias Sports Bureau, here are some interesting numbers on the NFC South's other three teams.

Matt Ryan is only the second rookie quarterback since the AFL-NFL merger to start each of his team's first six games and win at least four of them. Buffalo's Joe Ferguson also started 4-2 in 1973.

Although he's won a Super Bowl, coach Jon Gruden sometimes still lives (in the eyes of some fans) in the shadow of predecessor Tony Dungy. Well, Gruden might eclipse Dungy in a significant category this week. A victory against Dallas would give Gruden 57 victories and break the franchise record set by Dungy. Gruden has 53 regular-season wins and three in the postseason.

Carolina has held opponents to single digits in each of its last three victories (16 total points allowed combined in span).
