LONDON, England -- Just got back from walking around London for the last seven hours or so and have a score update for you:
San Diego Chargers 5, New Orleans Saints 1.
That's the number of hats, sweatshirts or t-shirts I saw for each team while walking, I'm guessing nine or 10 miles, and riding a few miles on the tube. That was more than a little amazing because the NFL has been doing its best to hype this game. But it doesn't seem to be that big a deal here.
The Saints say they've got 4,000 or so fans coming from the United States and the Chargers say they've got about 800. Wembley Stadium is sold out, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of buzz in the public about this game. The British seem to remain extremely interested in their soccer and rugby.
But I'll stick with my football, even though I'm going to pass up on a night in one of the greatest cities in the world. I'm going to bed now and getting up at 1 a.m. (London time, with a time change and an hour falling back) to try to find the game between Penn State and Ohio State on local television.
I'll be back with you Sunday morning (your time) or afternoon (my time) to talk about the game between the Saints and Chargers.
