For much of October, Clifton Smith wasn't even on an NFL roster. For November, he's the NFC's Special Teams Player of the Month.
Since being elevated from the practice squad in late October, Smith took over the return job and has emerged as one of the best in the league. The undrafted free agent from Fresno State is the only player in the NFL to have a kickoff return and a punt return for a touchdown this season.
For the month, Smith returned 11 punts for 199 yards (18.1-yard average) and a touchdown. He also returned 16 kickoffs for 498 yards (31.1) and a touchdown.
