CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Jerry Richardson, the man who brought the NFL to the Carolinas, is not at Bank of America Stadium tonight.

The owner of the Carolina Panthers remains in a Charlotte hospital after checking in over the weekend. Richardson had a pacemaker inserted in early November. A team official said Richardson hadn't been feeling well and is continuing to have tests.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said he went to the hospital and visited Richardson this afternoon. Richardson has played a vital role on several NFL committees and Goodell said he expects Richardson to continue those duties.

"He's certainly intent on doing it,'' Goodell said. "I wouldn't doubt Jerry Richardson.''
