Saints sign QB McKenna

The New Orleans Saints have added another quarterback. No, we’re not talking about Sean Canfield, who the Saints drafted in the seventh round Saturday.

They also have signed undrafted free agent A.J. McKenna, according to Chris Imperiale of The Scranton (Pa.) Times. McKenna played at Lackawanna College in Scranton before moving on to Albany State. Known for his strong arm and good size, McKenna is viewed as a developmental project. With Drew Brees as the only veteran on the roster, McKenna likely will be competing with Canfield and Chase Daniel for the No. 3 spot.

It’s still likely the Saints will bring in a quarterback with some NFL experience to serve as Brees’ backup. One of the young quarterbacks will end up as No. 3 and another could land on the practice squad.
