NFC South players head back to school

When it comes to intellect, the Atlanta Falcons might lead the NFC South. Brian Finneran is going to Harvard and Justin Blalock, Brett Romberg, Lawrence Sidbury and Will Svitek are going to the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Well, at least temporarily.

Finneran will take part in the NFL Business Management and Entrepreneurial Program at Harvard that starts today and runs the rest of this week. Blalock, Romberg, Sidbury and Svitek are involved in a similar program at Wharton that starts Tuesday.

The programs are designed to help players after their careers.

There will be a few other players with NFC South connections joining Finneran at Harvard. Retired kicker Morten Andersen, who played for the Falcons and Saints, and former Carolina defensive back Deke Cooper also are at Harvard.

Tampa Bay’s Jeff Faine and Chris Pressley also are scheduled to take part in the program at Wharton.
