Saints to work out with Patriots

What interim head coach Joe Vitt hinted at back in June now is official -- the New Orleans Saints will spend part of their preseason practicing with the New England Patriots.

The Saints just announced their training camp schedule and it includes a summer vacation to (almost) Cape Cod. They’ll be practicing with the Patriots in Foxborough, Mass. After opening their preseason in the Hall of Fame Game against Arizona in Canton, Ohio on Aug. 5, the Saints will fly to New England. They will do a walk-through practice at Gillette Stadium on Aug. 6 and hold a full practice with the Patriots on Aug. 7. They’ll do another walk-through practice on Aug. 8. The times of those sessions haven’t been announced.

The two teams then will play a preseason game at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 9.

The Saints then will get three straight days off before finishing up training camp with four practices at their facility in Metairie, La. They’ll close camp Aug. 16, one day before hosting the Jacksonville Jaguars in their third preseason game.
