Undrafted Panther gets drafted -- in baseball

Anthony Scirrotto, an undrafted free agent trying to make the Carolina Panthers, has been drafted. In another sport.

The safety was taken in the Major League Baseball draft Thursday by the Kansas City Royals. Scirrotto was selected in the 50th round. He said he plans to stick with football, but admitted baseball could be a fallback option.

That's probably a wise approach since Scirrotto hasn't played baseball since his senior year of high school when he was an outstanding shortstop. Scirrotto was viewed as a potential high pick in baseball when he was coming out of high school, but he made it clear that his intention was to play football at Penn State.

I watched a lot of Scirrotto at Penn State and was surprised when he didn't get drafted. Not a lot of guys make it as undrafted free agents, but I think Scirrotto's got a chance with the Panthers.
