Beason, Kemoeatu banged up early

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- A couple of quick injury reports from Carolina's first practice of camp.

Defensive tackle Maake Kemoeatu suffered an ankle injury early in the session and linebacker Jon Beason went out with a hamstring injury about midway through practice. We don't know much about the extent of either injury yet.

The Kemoeatu one could be significant from a depth perspective. The Panthers don't have a proven player behind Kemoeatu and fellow starter Damione Lewis. This could mean more reps for guys like Nick Hayden, Marlon Favorite, Corvey Irvin and Lorenzo Williams.

The depth at linebacker is stronger and Dan Connor slid into the middle after Beason left practice.

I'll be back with more on Carolina's first practice after we finish player interviews.
