Ryan was No. 5 last week and I had also lobbied Sando to consider New Orleans running back Darren Sproles. Sando noted Sproles, but left him off last week’s list. But Sando also said Monday night’s game between the Falcons and Saints could have a large impact on if Ryan and Sproles made this week’s list.
Well, the new MVP Watch is out and Sando was true to his word, as always. Ryan fell off the list completely. But Sproles made his debut on the list at No. 7. I think Sproles is more than deserving of that ranking.
Obviously, Sproles isn’t going to win the MVP award. He’s not even the top candidate on his team. Drew Brees is No. 2 overall on Sando’s list and probably will finish second to Aaron Rodgers in the real MVP voting.
But I think what Sproles has brought to the Saints as a runner, receiver and return man make him a very valid candidate for any top-10 list of most valuable players.
