Around the NFC West: July 12, 2013
Good morning, NFC West.
We wrapped up Thursday by running through a series of alcohol-related incidents involving NFL personnel, including one affecting the San Francisco 49ers.
We begin this Friday by revisiting the 2012 DUI case involving Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch.
As Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times notes, Lynch will not face a jury trial before Dec. 27. That could push any league discipline past the 2013 season. Courts routinely move back trial dates, so the Dec. 27 date is fluid.
Seattle entered the 2012 season amid some questions about whether Lynch would face discipline entering that season. It now appears likely he'll be in the clear for two full seasons, and even then he could escape punishment depending upon how the case is resolved.
