Around the NFC West: Peterson at WR

Around the NFC West: July 31, 2013

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- It's been a great three days at Arizona Cardinals training camp and I'm very much looking forward to writing the "Camp Confidential" piece, set to run later in the week. First, I've got a day at home before visiting San Francisco 49ers camp on Thursday.

The Percy Harvin surgery news affecting Seattle upstaged Cardinals practice Tuesday.

Cornerback Patrick Peterson stood out to me during that Cardinals practice, and not just for picking off a pass and lateraling to teammate Rashad Johnson during the return. Peterson also worked quite a bit with the offense at wide receiver. He's such a natural athlete. If any cornerback could make the transition to part-time receiver, Peterson might be the one. He ran routes fluidly, caught the ball cleanly and made me wonder if the Cardinals' fourth wideout -- to be determined -- would be better.

"Coach is going to continue to work me in there and we'll see where it takes us," Peterson said. "Whatever it takes to get the ball in my hands, I'm more than happy to do it."

Peterson had seven interceptions last season. He was a two-time Pro Bowl choice before his 23rd birthday. I have a feeling we're going to see Peterson get some reps with the offense this season.
