Around the NFC West: July 30, 2013
Good morning, NFC West. There are a couple of concerning injury-related stories in the division as training camps continue, but we've otherwise settled into that period where glasses are half full and skies mostly sunny.
First, the injury concerns: Seattle's Percy Harvin (hip) and Arizona's Ryan Williams (knee) are seeking second opinions after initial examinations by their teams showed nothing requiring surgery.
Now, the optimism: Colin Kaepernick is throwing with greater touch, Jonathan Cooper has been compared to Hall of Famers, Jared Cook is ready to lead the Rams' offense and Bruce Irvin is flourishing in multiple roles.
Those and other encouraging developments made their way into our links roundup in the box at right. There's much to like about the NFC West this season, so the positive takes are often quite warranted.
Filling the "reasons for optimism" section of our upcoming "Camp Confidential" files will be easier than identifying "reasons for pessimism" now that every team in the division feels good about its quarterback. Perhaps you have other thoughts. Hit up the NFC West mailbag or use the comments section beneath this entry to share your ideas. I'll break out the best ones on the blog if you do.
