TEMPE, Ariz. – All the ruckus Cardinals coach Bruce Arians caused with his comments about “Hard Knocks” on the radio Tuesday night may be for naught.
Arians called the show a distraction and said its intrusion is embarrassing to players when they get cut. Asked if he’d fight the Cardinals from being on it, Arians replied, “All the way.”
When the NFL owners passed a rule Tuesday allowing the league to choose a team to participate in the documentary-style TV show if no other teams volunteer, they included three exceptions: If a team has a first-year head coach, if a team made the playoffs in one of the previous two seasons or if a team has been on the show in the past 10 years, then it’s not eligible to be chosen.
Well, Arians made it clear during his Wednesday news conference that the Cardinals won’t be an option for the NFL to choose because of one of those exceptions.
“We’re going to the playoffs,” Arians proclaimed with a smile, “so I don’t have to worry about it.”
