Cardinals need big-play spark

PHOENIX -- The 49ers' 104-yard touchdown return on the opening kickoff risked turning the Cardinals' frenzied home-field advantage into a tense environment for the home team.

The Cardinals seem to be waiting for a big play to get them back on track. I expect the Arizona defense to make such a play if the Cardinals can force the 49ers into passing situations.

San Francisco tempted fate by leaving quarterback Shaun Hill in an empty backfield on a second-and-7 play during the 49ers' current drive. The Cardinals knew they could bring pressure, and they did, disrupting the play with heavy pressure up the middle.
