Rackers could be done in Arizona

The Cardinals' contract agreement with veteran kicker Jay Feely could signal the end for Neil Rackers in Arizona.

Rackers made 16 of 17 attempts during the regular season. He has performed at a Pro Bowl level at times. But the Cardinals never appeared close to re-signing him after the season. Rackers suffered a critical miss in the playoffs, but he was playing hurt and coach Ken Whisenhunt later took responsibility for sideline confusion that interrupted Rackers' usual routine. After the playoffs, though, Whisenhunt seemed irked that Rackers' injury was worse than first thought.

Feely, 33, has played for the Jets, Falcons, Dolphins, Giants and Chiefs. I had heard rumblings of an agreement with Arizona in recent days. Feely visited the team earlier in free agency.

As Manish Mehta of the Newark Star-Ledger points out, "The 33-year-old Feely made of 30 of 36 field goals last season, but missed a pair of them in the AFC Championship game against the Colts."
