Schedule something to count on

The NFL announced the date for its 2010 schedule release. It'll be Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET, about a week later than usual.

My initial reaction was that suspense would build before finding out specific dates for the Rams' games against the Bucs, Chiefs, Panthers and Lions.

Brian Stull of 101ESPN St. Louis then made a good point. Those games could feature matchups against Ndamukong Suh, Gerald McCoy and possibly even Marc Bulger -- which would be better than facing those teams without those guys.

And as Aaron Nagler pointed out, the schedule does allow some fans to start making travel arrangements. I do the same thing.

The schedule is welcome because it's something fans -- and everyone -- can depend upon. There's so much uncertainty surrounding sports.

It's nice knowing how weekends might play out beginning in the fall.
