Pete Carroll's official bio on the Seattle Seahawks' website has described the eighth head coach in franchise history as a two-time national champion at USC.
"He returns to the NFL after spending the previous nine years (2001-09) as head coach at USC, where he won seven consecutive Pac-10 titles (2002-08), two national championships (2003-04) and led the Trojans to a 97-19 record," the bio reads.
The NCAA forced the Trojans to vacate one of those championships, plus additional games, as part of sanctions announced Thursday.
Carroll has yet to comment on the sanctions. I would expect something from him at some point Thursday.
As noted in the recent NFC West chat, Seattle fans with a rooting interest in the University of Washington might actually have a greater appreciation for Carroll now that USC faces a competitive disadvantage.
