SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- One final San Francisco 49ers observation before boarding a flight home momentarily:
The atmosphere is the locker room following the 49ers' 25-22 defeat Monday night was far less somber than it was following the last-second loss at Minnesota early last season.
That loss to the Vikings -- one the 49ers arguably did not recover from -- carried more shock value. There was nothing shocking about the end to the game against New Orleans; commit four turnovers and you're fortunate to be close at all.
Players were off and unavailable Tuesday, as usual. But some seemed encouraged after the game Monday night. There was frustration, but no sense of despair. This was not a "down" team.
If the 49ers lose to Kansas City in Week 3, I do not sense it'll have anything to do with a hangover effect.
