Updating Hasselbeck's injury situation

Two cracked bones in Matt Hasselbeck's left wrist will not prevent the Seattle Seahawks' quarterback from remaining in the lineup.

That was the word from coach Pete Carroll during his ongoing news conference. I'm listening live via an ESPN Radio app and can pass along a few details, according to Carroll:

  • Hasselbeck will wear a brace or splint to protect the injury. Hasselbeck will have to deal with pain, but he will not need surgery.

  • Linebacker Aaron Curry played his best game of the season.

  • Left tackle Russell Okung will practice without restriction this week, but it not yet clear whether he'll be able to play against New Orleans.

  • Charlie Whitehurst played well in "middle relief" except for that interception.

The news on Hasselbeck was pretty much as expected. Tests did not reveal damage requiring surgery and that was significant for Seattle.
