Silver linings: Cardinals vs. Rams

The facts: The Cardinals fell to 3-9 with a 19-6 home defeat to the St. Louis Rams in Week 13.

The upside: Even the worst defeats tend to feature a bright spot or two.

  • Jay Feely made both field goal tries.

  • Defensive end Calais Campbell returned from an ankle injury and had a sack.

  • The Cardinals became the second team this season to hold Rams rookie Sam Bradford without a touchdown pass.

  • Safety Kerry Rhodes had a sack and an interception. He has three interceptions this season.

  • Arizona scored on its first two possessions and led after the first quarter.

  • Tim Hightower had runs of 32 and 20 yards, helping him average 5.4 yards per attempt.

  • The Cardinals held the Rams without a touchdown on three red zone possessions. Rhodes, Darnell Dockett, Adrian Wilson and Michael Adams seemed to play well.

  • Arizona remains at least mathematically alive in the NFC West race. One more Seattle victory would eliminate the Cardinals from contention.

  • The Cardinals needed a franchise quarterback almost no matter how they performed this season. Losing seven in a row has put them in better position to draft one.

Looking ahead: The Cardinals face the Denver Broncos at University of Phoenix Stadium in Week 14.
