Matt Hasselbeck or Charlie Whitehurst?

Coach Pete Carroll hasn't yet declared whether Matt Hasselbeck or Charlie Whitehurst will start for the Seattle Seahawks in their wild-card game against New Orleans.

Which one should get the call? I'd like to include your thoughts in a piece I'll put together for Thursday, so fire away in the comments if you get a chance. I'll also be monitoring the conversation on Facebook.

I've discussed the matter twice already Tuesday, first with Mike Salk and Brock Huard of 710ESPN Seattle and more recently with Bernie Miklasz of 101ESPN St. Louis.

My initial take: Hasselbeck might give the Seahawks their best chance to win the game or get blown out. We saw Whitehurst lead an offense that needed to score only seven points (and got 16) to beat the St. Louis Rams. The offense made aggressive plays on its first drive, but it was pretty limited most of the way. The Seahawks will probably need to score more points -- and explore more of their playbook against a complex defense -- to beat the Saints. Hasselbeck, given his experience and 2010 success against New Orleans, probably gives Seattle the best chance in that regard. But Hasselbeck has more often ´╗┐thrown interceptions when playing aggressively, and that could happen again.
