Expecting a cold, wet matchup at Qwest

NFC West teams without postseason plans have hired a head coach, fired a defensive coordinator and dismissed an equipment manager with roots to the team dating back more than four decades.

Saturday offers something else on the agenda: an actual game.

Bring your jacket and rain gear if you're planning on being there for the Seattle' Seahawks' wild-card playoff game against New Orleans at Qwest Field. That goes for you, too, Drew Brees. The forecast calls for a 70 percent chance of rain and temperatures in the upper 30s.

Brees has a 3-5 starting record with San Diego and New Orleans in games kicking off with temperatures colder than 40 degrees. All were road games. Three of the defeats were at Chicago. Overall, Brees has 16 touchdowns, eight interceptions and a 91.3 rating in these games. His rating was at least 102.3 in each of the victories.

The chart lists Brees' eight previous sub-40 games by highest to lowest passer ratings. The asterisk denotes playoffs. In 2004, Brees' Chargers finished with six pass attempts and 50 rushing attempts during a 21-0 victory at Cleveland.
