Eric Williams' piece on the Seahawks' situational 3-3 defense led me to track down the full contingent of videos featuring former college coach and player Billy Kidd at the whiteboard.
Ehow.com carries all related videos and makes them available here. The instruction is elementary. Basically, a team might use a 3-3 front against a spread passing attack; the Cardinals' offense comes to mind more than any other on Seattle's schedule this season.
The 3-3-5 concept is not new (I know the University of New Mexico has used it as its base defense). Vulnerabilities against the run would make it tough to implement all the time.
Sounds like a subject for Seahawks coach Jim Mora and defensive coordinator Gus Bradley to address once training camp gets going in a couple weeks. Seattle allowed a league-high 59 pass plays of at least 20 yards last season. The Seahawks were also the only NFL team to allow more than 4,000 yards passing.
