Former NFL linebacker Dave Wyman and 710 ESPN Seattle afternoon host Kevin Calabro brought me onto the air for a Seahawks-centric discussion Thursday afternoon.
They followed up about Colin Cowherd's comments regarding Mike Holmgren allegedly mailing it in last season. We also discussed the Seahawks' prospects this season. The audio is here. My segment begins about 29 minutes into the session.
Wyman thinks the Seahawks need to at least attempt deep passes more frequently this season. Calabro suggested there's a "tentative" feel to this Seahawks season given all the key players returning from injuries.
I suggested there might be a total number of starts for Matt Hasselbeck, Patrick Kerney and Walter Jones -- out of 48 possible -- that might be enough for Seattle to challenge again within the division. What would that number be? Forty? That numbers might be arbitrary, but if it sounds reasonable enough for the sake of discussion, those three would theoretically need to start 83 percent of games after combining to start 26 games -- 54 percent -- last season.
