The Seahawks and Rams have yet to announce roster reductions to the 75-player limits, but we can see where those teams are heavy heading toward the deadline.
First off, it's important to recognize how defensive schemes affect numbers for defensive linemen and linebackers. The 49ers and Cardinals carry fewer defensive linemen and more linebackers because the 3-4 is part of what they do defensively. Both teams already made moves to comply with the 75-man limit.
The chart shows Seattle carrying 14 defensive linemen, a high number. We also see six specialists, tied with Kansas City for most in the league (based on cuts announced so far). Seattle will have to hit those positions hard before reaching the 53-man limit, even if the team finds a way to keep those numbers bloated at the 75-man cut-down.
The Rams are carrying more running backs and receivers. Running back Steven Jackson is not counting on the roster, but I'm listing Richard Owens as a fullback, not a tight end. Brian Leonard, Russ Weil and Dan Kreider are also listed as fullbacks (I have updated Weil's roster information to show his weight at 258, as listed by the Rams, not the 241 listed at Illinois).
