Rams linebacker Chris Chamberlain faces a $5,000 fine for "unnecessarily striking a defenseless receiver in the head and neck area" during the team's exhibition opener against the Jets.

Chamberlain leveled Jets receiver Wallace Wright with a helmet-to-helmet hit.

Rams cornerback Bradley Fletcher was tackling Wallace when Chamberlain arrived with a finishing blow. Officials did not assess a penalty during the game, but replays showed helmet-to-helmet contact. Wallace was slow in getting up and leaving the field.
